On November 27, 2020, it was published that the content has been developed Sustainable Mobility Plan for the City of Poznań (PZMM). and proceed to the next stage of work on the document - the third stage of public consultation. It is worth appreciating that the planning work has been completed despite the constraints of the epidemiological situation, and modern remote communication tools will be used for public consultation. This shows that, despite the difficult situation, it is possible to implement even complex planning projects.
The PMM is intended to be a comprehensive document that will cover all issues related to communication and movement within the city of Poznań. The activities covered by the PMM are to cover the period from 2021 to 2030, i.e. coincide with the upcoming budget perspective of the European Union. The goals outlined in the PMM should be assessed as ambitious, which may make them difficult to implement, but at the same time makes their achievement very worthwhile.
We are particularly interested in the final content of the MMP with regard to aspects of public transportation. It is worth noting that the developers of the MMP place a strong emphasis on the need for complementary development of public and rail transportation. Among the initiatives to be developed is the Poznań Metropolitan Railway, a project initiated several years ago in cooperation between the City of Poznań and the Wielkopolska Voivodeship Government, surrounding local government units and the Poznań Metropolia Association. We know from experience how difficult it is - in the absence of adequate legislative solutions - to develop a legal framework for initiatives requiring the cooperation of many entities with different tasks and from different "levels" of the local government structure.
