Risk & Supervision Meeting 2022 - report

The Risk & Supervision Meeting 2022 conference, organized by CRIF sp. z o.o., was held on 9/9/2022 in Warsaw at the Marriott Conference Center. It was the 5th anniversary edition. The aim of the conference is cross-sectoral exchange of experience and finding common features in the sphere of fraud. The point of the event is to discuss common business areas and strengthen cooperation between the two sectors (leasing + factoring), which operate for a similar customer segment (b2b).

Due to the subject matter of the Blog, I am limiting my coverage of the event to the legal aspects of factoring (partly also leasing). This year's program lacked room for a legal panel, so the event summary will be shorter. In this situation, the Blog's focus was part of the event -. Open discussion among conference participants - fraud in the leasing and factoring sector. The discussion was led by the reported just before voluntarily:

  • Katarzyna Baumgart, Deputy Director of the Risk Management Department heading the Compliance and Operational Risk Department, mLeasing Ltd.
  • Bartosz Nadra - Managing Partner of the financial segment of the law firm Jaskowiak Nadra Attorneys at Law.

Will not, of course, cite the content of the statements that emerged, while the discussion was free-flowing and touched on both sectoral aspects (the construction sector), as well as aspects of the increase in the types of fraud, in particular luxury car leasing fraud carried abroad (mainly France), distribution fraud, fraudulent leasing of the same equipment several times. The anti-fraud survey is discussed in this article. Interesting aspects also emerged in the panel discussion on transportation financing (assignment ban limiting the industry, AML problems, screening of suppliers on sanction lists (the first sanction list is already here), customer/supplier environment, type of equipment. In the panel discussion on e-commerce, the discussion also partly revolved around b2c and b2b regulation and payment services and their regulation.
